Terms of Service

Welcome to Smatbeez. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Smatbeez mobile app, the smatbeez.co.tz website, and any related services (together, the "Service"), operated by Smatbeez. By creating an account, or by otherwise accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. What Smatbeez Is
Smatbeez helps traders and small businesses in Tanzania keep track of tax returns, licences, permits and other regulatory obligations. The Service localises deadlines, rates and requirements to your region and business type, sends you reminders across the channels you choose (push notifications, SMS, email), and lets you store related documents in a personal document vault.
Smatbeez is a reminder and organisation tool. It is not a substitute for advice from the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA), BRELA, NSSF, the Workers Compensation Fund (WCF), your local municipal authority, or a licensed accountant or tax professional. Deadlines, rates and requirements shown in the app are maintained on a best-effort basis and may not always be complete, current or accurate for your specific circumstances. You are responsible for independently verifying any filing date, rate or requirement with the relevant authority before relying on it, and for meeting your own statutory obligations. Smatbeez is not liable for penalties, fines, licence lapses or other consequences arising from missed, late or incorrect filings, whether or not the Service reminded you.
2. Eligibility and Account Registration
You must be able to form a legally binding contract to use the Service, and you must be registering on behalf of a genuine business or trading activity. When you create an account you agree to provide accurate, current information (including your name, business name, phone number, email address, region and trader type) and to keep it up to date. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately at info@smatbeez.co.tz if you suspect unauthorised use of your account.
You may sign up using a phone number and password, or via Google or Apple sign-in. Where phone verification (a one-time code) is required, you are responsible for the phone number you provide and for keeping it under your control.
3. Free Tier and Premium Subscription
Smatbeez offers a free tier with core reminder functionality, and a Premium subscription (billed monthly or yearly) that unlocks additional deadlines, SMS alerts, a larger document vault, and other features described in the app at the time of purchase. Premium may be offered with an initial free trial period; if you do not cancel before the trial ends, you may be moved to a paid subscription or asked to complete payment, as described in the app.
Premium subscriptions are billed via mobile money. Depending on how you subscribe, payment may be confirmed automatically or reviewed and confirmed manually before Premium access is activated. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing cycle (monthly or yearly, as selected) unless you cancel. You can cancel at any time from within the app; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and we do not provide refunds for partial periods except where required by law.
4. Document Vault
The document vault lets you store certificates, receipts and other files related to your compliance obligations. You retain ownership of everything you upload. You are solely responsible for the content, legality and accuracy of documents you store, and for keeping your own backup copies — Smatbeez is not a substitute for your own records. Storage is subject to a quota that depends on your plan (free or Premium), as shown in the app.
5. Action Buttons and Third-Party Links
Some deadlines include shortcut buttons (for example, "Open TRA" or "Contact Accountant") configured by Smatbeez to help you take action quickly. These buttons may open third-party websites (such as government portals) or a WhatsApp conversation with a contact number. Smatbeez does not control, and is not responsible for, the content, availability or conduct of these third-party destinations. Any interaction you have with a government authority, accountant or other third party reached through the Service is solely between you and that party.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to: use the Service for any unlawful purpose; provide false information about your business or identity; attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service, other accounts, or our systems; interfere with or disrupt the Service; or use the Service to harass, defraud or mislead others. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
7. Notifications
By using the Service you consent to receive reminders and account-related messages via the channels you enable (push, email, SMS). SMS delivery depends on our messaging providers and your mobile network, and is not guaranteed. You can adjust reminder timing, channels, and quiet hours in Settings at any time.
8. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from Settings. Deleting your account permanently removes your compliance calendar, documents, subscription and account data, as described in our Privacy Policy; this cannot be undone. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or if your subscription payment is not completed.
9. Intellectual Property
Smatbeez, its logo, the app, the website and their content (excluding documents and data you upload) are owned by Smatbeez and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer or redistribute the Service except as expressly permitted.
10. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including as to accuracy, reliability or fitness for a particular purpose. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that every applicable deadline, rate or rule will be reflected. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Smatbeez and its owners, employees and partners are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for any fines, penalties, licence lapses or lost income arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Tanzanian law.
11. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Republic of Tanzania. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Service will first be addressed through good-faith discussion with us; if unresolved, it will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Tanzania.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you (for example, in the app or by email). Continued use of the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.
